Beths Stories::JACMay,2004The city of Kharkov has lost a lovely young man by the name of Jac. Jac was not only a close friend but also a son to me. He cared for me when ill, advised me where to go for health services, and gave me great joy as he lead me as well as others into the presence of our Lord as a praise and worship leader. We often sang and prayed together at celebrations, walking on the streets, and when he came for tea.
Jac came to us from Cameroon 12 long years ago. He came to study to be a medical doctor. Jac was faced with loneliness, lack of funds, and outright discrimination because of his color. He was a young, naive 18 year old when he arrived. With in two years he had learned enough to survive and was an excellent Russian speaker. Jac often helped me interpret one to one after and during services. One of the memories that has stayed with me is when Jac came to visit us. I was desperately ill and needed to feel the touch of the Lord. My Doctor had been to our church and advised me to only sit. NOT dance or get excited. But Jac just couldn't set still and through his inspiration we just danced our hearts out for about twenty minutes. I hadn't felt that good for a long time. The Lord met us and gave me strength. WOW! Our God is a good God! It was a great joke between us. If you look at my picture on the opening page you will see that I am white, white, and white. White skin, white hair and possess blue eyes and am only 5 feet four inches tall if I stand real straight. Jac is a deep chocolate brown with black hair and wonderful sparkling, brown eyes and is a chest to head taller than I am. As we would walk down the street together He would laugh and then say a bit louder than normal, "of course, Mom"! People would stop and stare, their heads would jerk around and we would laugh. What a picture of contrast! Jac, is returning to Cameroon to begin his practice as a heart specialist. He will be returning to his family as a stranger of sorts, having been gone so long. He has developed into a mighty man of God with skills that will help his nation proceed until the Lord returns. PRAY for this man as he prepares to start his life over again for the second time. Pray for his health and success. Lift him up to the Lord!!!! Well, as you see life is continuing! BUT do you see the hand of the Lord in all you have and do? Can you see the hand of the Lord in the people around you? Do you appreciate them all and have good memories? You see the steps of a righteous man are ordered by God! It is our part to appreciate with great gratefulness those we are allowed to walk with. Be Blessed! I love You! Beth Boehs | mail to Beth | beths archive | |
